GET IN!!! Such a special time to support the Reds!
While I know we have 4 more to look forward to, my sincere thanks to you Mo for all of the incredibly well-written & insightful match summaries! They really are a highlight of my week.
Opportunities to write match reports on the occasion of winning the league title are few and far between so hope you enjoyed both the process of writing it, and the events behind the content.
You're a very good writer, and as someone with a degree in English I feel qualified to comment.
I think you merit a wider audience.
The only thing I'd agree to disagree on is the notion that Macca has been our best midfielder this season. His passing data (volume) is miles down on last season, like a full third down. Not that it's down to reduced effort as his defensive stats are steady year on year, indeed improved?
Gravenberch has been far and away our best midfielder for me. He's an absolute Rolls Royce. Narratives build more on repetition than cogent arguments and this seems to me the only way Macca is being touted as our midfielder of the season. Should be Ryan and not even debatable.
Midfield has been a disappointment considering how Slot promised Curtis that it would be the star of the show as a department, but all three were absolutely magnificent yesterday and I'd like Slot to take the shackles off them more often as I think his 'control' can be suffocating.
A magnificent way to win the league title. Swaggering, instead of the recent bouts of staggering.
Now it's all over and the twenty monkey is off our backs, I never want to hear the word 'Allez' ever again. At least not unless I'm on holiday in France and a dog is trying to piss on my tent.
Nice to be able to go back and read a chilled match report after all the confected hysteria and "the biggest event in world history" and random lads shoving their faces in camera and trying to say something deep but only managing some mangled superlative like "amazinging" which I haven't heard since an acid house rave off the M25 in the late 1980s. Amazinging. The return of.
G'wan Mo!
Have the best evening, night, morning. Thanks for your insights this year!
Thanks a lot Steve - it's been a magical time to join the press pack.
Well you’ve made it a whole lot better for us too, Mo. Look after yerself.
